THe Delta Nu Chapter Takes On Elevate

Written by Abby Koch

31 members from the University of Dayton’s Delta Nu chapter will attend Elevate from February 24-25 in Chicago.

Elevate is Alpha Kappa Psi’s annual flagship event where students and alumni interact with top professionals in business industries, gain insight into necessary industry-related skills, and develop a leadership development plan. It is designed for all individuals seeking to enhance their professional development.

This year, Elevate is introducing a new attendee experience where members can learn content customized for each professional development journey. The weekend will be focused on four professional pathways: Know Yourself, Build Your Team, Find Your Path, and Practice Your Skills. Simply put, this event will allow participants to “elevate” their thinking, opportunities, development, and whole being.

“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to attend Elevate this year! Being able to network and gain professional skills while attending this conference is exactly why I joined AKPsi” Abby Ruzevich, Vice President of the Delta Nu chapter, said.

Additionally, members will be given opportunities to meet other chapters throughout the weekend. During breakout sessions, our members will take part in small-group discussions in order to delve deeper into the content and grow their professional network.

The agenda in Chicago is packed with awesome topics that will engage and enrich our 31 brothers. Friday begins with a high-energy opening session where members can learn more about what to expect. Then begins Introduction to Financial Literacy, where members can learn how to manage their money effectively, Introduction to Inclusive Leadership, which emphasizes the importance of belonging in business, and Introduction to Workplace Environments, which sets a foundation of topics and skills that are necessary for a successful workplace. Saturday begins at 8 a.m. with Enrich Yourself, a general session that is designed to be a TedX-style panel with business leaders around the country. The rest of the topics throughout the day include Financial Management, Understanding Identity, Working with Different Generations, Business not Bias, Financial Decision-Making, Managing Office Conflict, Ethics in the Workplace, Reframing Respect, Taxes, Advocating for Allyship, Financial Planning, Navigating the Workplace Environment, and finally, a closing session that will bring closure to the programming.

“I believe all of our brothers attending Elevate will benefit from the impressive programming. I am most excited for the Understand Identity session, where I can learn how to understand the different facets that make up my character” Phil Mullen, President of the Delta Nu chapter, said.

On Friday, brothers are encouraged to wear their best AKPsi spirit gear and Saturday is business casual.

The University of Dayton’s Delta Nu chapter is excited to participate in Elevate and learn more about the four professional pathways! With 31 of our brothers attending, we are confident that this weekend will be enlightening to our chapter and inspire our leaders to take what they learned in Chicago and apply it to Delta Nu.
